Hello friend,
There is something I have been sitting with this week.
Not everything that calls itself a “healing space” is rooted in integrity.
I have worked in environments where cameras were present, not for safety, but for surveillance. Where people who were not in the room still had access to conversations, moments, and vulnerability that were never meant for them.

When Words Are Taken and Retold
And what happens next is the part we don’t talk about.
Words get taken out of context.
Stories get reshaped.
And sometimes, they get retold by someone else as if they were their own.
I have experienced what it feels like to hear your own story come out of someone else’s mouth, altered just enough to pass, but close enough to know exactly where it came from.
That kind of thing doesn’t just cross a professional line. It crosses a human one.
The Line Between Inspiration and Appropriation
And here’s the truth I’ve had to come to terms with.
People will take what they have not lived and try to wear it like they earned it.
Not always maliciously. Sometimes it’s unconscious. Sometimes it’s habit. Sometimes it’s a byproduct of a world that rewards performance over presence.
But that doesn’t make it right.
We are living in a world of AI where it is easier than ever to borrow language, reshape experiences, and present something as your own.
The line between inspiration and appropriation is getting thinner by the day.
Just like the line between confidence and borrowed identity.
What is the Practice?
This is the practice I’m walking right now:
Discernment.
Not everything needs to be shared in every room.
Not every space has earned your story.
And not everyone who listens is there to hold it with care.
There are people who will sit just outside the garden, waiting to gather what you grow and call it theirs.
That doesn’t mean you stop creating.
It means you become more intentional about where you plant.
Integrity in Healing Spaces
Integrity matters.
Lived experience matters.
And the work we do, especially in spaces that claim to be healing, should be rooted in truth, not performance.
I’m not interested in gatekeeping.
But I am interested in honoring what is real.
If you are seeking spaces rooted in presence, integrity, and care, you are always welcome at the Soul Nourished table.
